How does Solutions Coaching work?
The coaching provided by Solutions Coaching is fundamentally based on three steps: imagine, innovate, implement.
- imagine: what is your ideal outcome? What would you like to change or overcome in your current situation, and what would be the end result? Whether we’re stuck in the middle of a problem, or stuck in a rut, it can be hard to see a way out of our present situation. When we’re in a “flight or flight”, stressed or fear-based state, we are not able to be as creative, and our perceived options narrow. Coaching can help you see possibilities that you’re not aware of, and help you connect back to what really matters to you.
- innovate: generate options that would get you where you want to go. There’s a good chance that there will be obstacles between you and where you want to be. And this is where we get creative. Strengths based coaching looks at your signature strengths, values and skills, finds solutions that have worked for you in the past, and assesses the resources available to you, and creates a workable plan to get you there.
- implement: sometimes we have brilliant ideas, but implementing these can be another story. Coaching looks at how to break down these big goals into small achievable tasks – what is the smallest possible step you can take within the next 48 hours that will have an impact on your goal? What is the most effective action to achieve the desired outcome? What small changes will build to big results?
Through the process of using these three stages we can monitor and build on small, key action steps at each successive meeting until success is achieved.
